6.3.14.Part III

Who: Ashley & I
What: Swimming underneath a waterfall
Where: Esteli, Nicaragua
Captured: Disposable Camera

This adventure  ^^ was both a bit scary (hello taking taxi through back country, hoping that a random bus would pick us up on the way back!) and completely relaxing (we were the only ones here crazy enough to stay for a swim!).  As you can see, it was well worth the worry because the waterfall was beautiful and the chilly water felt great after the hike down.

6.3.14.Part II

Who: Ashley & I
What: Exploring, grabbing lunch
Where: Esteli, Nicaragua
Captured: Canon Powershot

This is the Catedral de Esteli ^^, as one might expect. As with the other cathedrals in Nicaragua, it was beautiful. And as you can see below, the tile here is as beautiful as the rest in this country. Seriously, I have become addicted after this trip!!!

Who: Ashley & I
What: Touring a cigar factory
Where: Esteli, Nicaragua
Captured: Canon Powershot

This place was awesome, they were so welcoming to us (thanks Darwin for being the best guide) and they even let us roll our own cigars! Crazy. We left with many in hand as gifts and possibly a little buzz. Haha.

Hi Darwin ^^

6.2.14.Part II

Who: Ashley & I
What: Climbing la Catedral de Leon
Where: Leon, Nicaragua
Captured: Canon Powershot

So here is more about the cathedral, as promised.

This cathedral was so stunning. It is actually a UNESCO world heritage site, (one of only two in Nicaragua) and the second I have visited (hello Smoky Mountains!). As you can see, the roof is painted white, and in order to keep it that way we had to take our shoes off to walk on it! We could see much of the city from up here, but because it is white and the sun was quite intense it was actually quite blinding to be up here. Totally wishing I was wearing sunglasses at the time.

Who: Ashley & I

Say hello to the beautiful Leon Cathedral ^^ !! We will be seeing more in a future post.

These murals were stunning ^^, these pictures don't do them justice.

6.1.14

Who: Ashley & I
What: Moving into our hostel
Where: Leon, Nicaragua
Captured: Canon Powershot

So unfortunately, this is the only picture I took this day. I somehow managed to come down with a cold while abroad and I spent much of the 1st in bed resting or just chillin out at our hostel (La Tortuga Booluda) which you can see above (don't you just love that it was mostly open to the elements, something that really can't happen so much in Michigan). So really, I guess this is a pretty good representation of our day. I was pretty bummed out, but luckily by the next day I was back on my feet & we were ready to explore! We also had the chance to meet a lot of other travelers from around the world, which was pretty cool. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is heading to Leon.

5.31.14.Part III

Who: Ashley & I
What: Heading out for the night
Where: San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua
Captured: Canon Powershot

This band was amazing ^^ I mean, they were playing a mix of native & original songs alongside Britney Spears covers. So good.

5.31.14

Who: Ashley & I
What: Beach day!!!
Where: San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua
Captured: Canon Powershot

This beach was absolutely stunning, and we had it almost entirely to ourselves! ^^ You can see we were there literally all day, which was surprisingly wonderful (coming from a girl who doesn't much love the beach).

We ended the day relaxing, drinking Tona and watching all the professional surfers. Not a bad way to round out the day.
