7.5.14

Who: Rob & I along with Jamie
What: A little last minute exploring of the island before we had to leave
Where: Beaver Island, Michigan
Captured: Canon Powershot

We found Feodor Protar's grave, although really this spot only marks his place of death (after a train derailment), his body was transported to Grand Rapids for burial. Protar was a recluse who came to the island to undertake a spiritual quest. He lived in a cabin on old Slopetown Road & provided medical services to those who couldn't afford, or get to the doctor in St James.

We found the site of The Stone Circle too! Archeologists currently debate the history & significance of these stones. The site was massive, but very difficult to see due to all the growth around the rocks.

The views here are obviously incredible ^^. I wish we could have stayed longer.

This sign ^^ was very misleading. There was no beer to be found anywhere around...

7.4.14.Part IV

Who: Rob & I along with Jamie & Chelsi (& their family!)
What: Exploring Beaver Island Head Light
Where: Beaver Island, Michigan
Captured: Canon Powershot

So as our journey around the island continued I made it known that my only desire was to see the Beaver Island Head Light. It is of course on the opposite end of the island as the Harbor Light and everything else it seems. If you have been following along for a while you might know that Rob & I have already seen this light. We were here four years ago for Chelsi & Jamie's wedding! Rob & I rented a teal GeoTracker from in town (they had every color of the rainbow to choose from) after we got off the boat & took a tour of the island.

Of course we climbed the tower again, I mean, why not??

Still decked out in our fourth of July gear ^^ haha!

7.4.14

Who: Rob & I
What: Waking up at the crack of dawn to see the sunrise on Beaver Island Harbor Light aka Whiskey Point (Which is really the greatest name for a lighthouse, amiright)?
Where: Beaver Island, Michigan
Captured: Canon EOS50

For those of you who know us personally or have been following along for a while, you know this is not the first time we have been to Beaver Island, & you can bet I dragged Rob along with me to see both lighthouses when we were here 4 years ago too. Well since we were last here this lighthouse got a facelift! A fresh coat of white paint has this bad boy looking good as new. And to be quite honest, as much as I love it with a fresh coat of paint I did find myself longing for the way it looked last time. Perhaps that was just nostalgia talking. Haha.

Well worth our early morning rising (even after a night of not much sleep!) to see the sun come up here. The colors were beautiful and since no one else is crazy to get up so early to hang out near a lighthouse, it was amazingly peaceful. Not a single soul to disturb us. Also, what better way to kick off our fourth of July??

7.3.14.Part II

Who: Rob & I along with our friends Jamie & Chelsi (and their family!)
What: Watching the sunset
Where: Beaver Island, Michigan
Captured: Canon EOS50

Let me just tell you, this ^^ was phenomenal.  What a great way to wash away the memories of that tiny plane than to have this as your view!!!

7.3.14

Who: Rob & I
What: Grabbing our flight over to Beaver Island
Where: Charlavoix, Michigan
Captured: Canon EOS50

What a tiny plane ^^ right??

This is the face ^^ I make when equally nervous & excited. I am not a fan of flying, but I knew we would have so much fun once we made it over!!

5.28.14.Part III

Who: Ashley & I
What: Exploring one of the islands/giving our arms a break from kayaking
Where: Lake Nicaragua in Granada, Nicaragua
Captured: Disposable Camera*

* I just love how crazy some of the disposable shots came out. I guess that's the glory of using a disposable camara, you just never know what you are going to get.

5.28.14.Part II

Who: Ashley & I
What: Kayaking Las Isletas in Lake Nicaragua
Where: Granada, Nicaragua
Captured: Disposable camera

Our guide, Miguel ^^

Volcan Mombacho!! ^^ We climb this volcano the next morning!

Miguel did a magic trick for us ^^ the end result was this beautiful flower!

We tricked Miquel into thinking we were great at kayaking, so he took us further than the normal tour goes so we could get to Monkey island!
