Whiskey Point Light

So here are the close-ups of the St. James Harbor light (also known as the Whiskey Point Light) that greeted us as we came upon Beaver Island's harbor. The light was actually built on Beaver Island in 1856. So named because the first white settlers there had made most there money from trading provisions (mostly whiskey). This is only one of the lights on Beaver Island. We traveled to see the other light after we got at good nights sleep. While this light was only the tower, the other still had the living quarters intact. In fact the children of Beaver Island have classes there! I will certainly post more about that soon.
