Field Below

Oh why oh why have I fallen off the side of the earth you may ask. Well, I have moved, began school, and been without internet for the last month. I feel like it was ages ago when we took these photos. And, well I guess it has been ages. I think at least 2 or 3 months. Gosh, I hope I can catch up at this rate.

I am finally feeling a bit more in my element here in my new house, so hopefully things will be a bit busier here in blogland soon.

Summer Wasting

This summer has gone by sooo fast! I haven't been able to post much because I have been so busy. I finished my internships just in time to get home and adopt a foreign exchange student. Long story short, but he ended up staying with us for two weeks, and we tried to do as much as we could with him while he was here. This meant doing a lot of activities, but not taking many photos. That somewhat explains my absence. I guess I have just been so busy getting ready to move and still working full time. I feel like the summer just flew by.

My sister snapped these photos for me a while ago. I love my hasbeens, but haven't worn them nearly enough! I am making sure that they get as much wear as they deserve from now on. Nothing too exciting about my outfit. I just threw it on to have dinner with Robby. I've had the blouse for years, but the shorts I got very early this summer. They have to be the best pair I have ever owned. I kept looking for high-waisted shorts for the summer, but eventually gave up simply because of a lack of luck and time. Perhaps next summer . . .

I will post some more photos from my summer soon. I swear I will be better at posting on a regular basis as soon as I have moved and gotten all settled in.

Farmtown

These photos are soo old! I am such a horrible blogger. Robby and I took a short trip to this barn because he thought it would be a great place to take some photos. I do think it was a great location, but I wish I could have gotten some more close ups. I suppose we just loved the barn so much we wanted it to be included! The dress I am wearing is actually a skirt I picked up at a thrift store near my house. I loved the color of the blue and the floral pattern. I figured belting it would make it perfect for a dress. I am quite pleased with how it came out.

Did anyone else have a strange addiction to farmtown?? I have long since beaten my addiction, but every once and a while I want to sneak a peak at my farm again. . .

My internship is almost over here in Lansing and I must say I am very excited to get back home!

We tried to take a walk around the farm after we took some pictures, but it was soo hot!! We kind of gave up and headed home to have a swim.

Cadillac

I went camping a while ago between internships in Cadillac with Robby on his families land and we had such a great time!! We set up our tent and then we jumped on the mopeds and rode them on the old railroad grades around the land. We even tried to ride to the old ghost town in Jennings that we read about in Ghost Towns of Michigan. But sadly there isn't much left and now it is inhabited by people who live in newish looking houses. Either way it was a great ride.

On the way back from Jennings, we found this old bus on the land adjacent to Robby's. I couldn't resist taking a few pictures. The bus is being used for hunting now. They took out some of the seats and put in a kitchen of some sort. It looks pretty cool. I should have tried to take some pictures of it, but I didn't think of it at the time.

I can't wait to live downtown! I move out in August and I am so excited. I will be able to ride my bike or moped downtown to class or to our friends houses. Next year should be such a good year, hopefully school wont kick my butt ( I know it will).

Ps. The red moped in these pictures is for sale, so if you know of any interest please let me know!!

We found this turtle while she was trying to lay her eggs. I felt a little bad about bothering her so we just snapped a few photos and left her alone.

Impractical Favorites!

I have seen so many lovely bloggers and fellow chictopians with beautiful clogs. I just couldn't help myself. I decided to get the blue ones because I have been wearing so much blue this summer so far. I think I am in love.

I really love the look of the Swedish Hasbeens and I saved up for a while to make this happen! Sadly now I want more clogs and my wallet simply isn't ready for another purchase like these. Hopefully I stumble upon a less expensive but just as cute version for the rest of summer/fall.

Buried Treasure

A while back Rob and I decided to take some photos in his backyard. He basically lives in a giant field with a thick tree-line behind him. As we were strolling and looking for a good location we stumbled across an old organ that he had buried about a year ago. It didn't work anymore and for some reason he thought it would be a great idea to bury it in his backyard. When I saw it I thought it may make for an interesting photo.

This outfit is very simple. I feel like I have been living in these capris for the entire spring. I love to wear dresses all the time but for some activities it simply isn't practical (ie: riding mopeds, hiking, etc . . .). So I pulled this lovely blouse from the back of my closet and gave it some well deserved play. I got the oxfords from Robby as a present earlier this spring and thought they would compliment the blouse.

I must say I am terribly sorry for not keeping up with posting. I started my second internship of the summer at Ingham Hospital in Lansing which is between 1 & 1/2 -2 hours away from my house. So I packed a giant suitcase and moved in with Robby's brother for the next three weeks. Needless to say, I have been a little busy and this whole thing has taken some getting used to so I haven't been able to do as much with my blog as I have wanted to. But I feel a little bit more moved in and I have a bunch of great posts planned, so hopefully I will be able to get them up in a timely manor!

Polka Dots

This is an old railroad bridge near my house that has been turned into a park. A week or two ago Robby and I went there to enjoy the sunshine and walk around a bit. I wish I had the time to do that now! I have been completing my first internship for school this summer at a pharmacy downtown Grand Rapids and then working on the weekends to have some money for gas and the like (shoes, dresses, purses . . .). Needless to say I have been exhausted. I am almost done with this internship, my last day is Friday, but I begin my next one right afterwards (Monday). I will be sooo ready for a break when this is all over with!

I got this dress about four years ago for a wedding. It has not had nearly enough play in my wardrobe. You can't see the greatest in the photographs, but it has tiny white polka dots on it.

Sorry about the short post, but I think I may be off to take a nap!!

Howard Christian Nature Center

I told Rob I wanted to see some old foundations, so he took me to the nature center by my house. I have been there a hundred times but not for a while. I had no idea there were old remains there! The day we went was so lovely. The weather was just warm enough and everything was so green there! We just stoled around for a while and enjoyed the sunshine. I am a bit sad the photos came out a bit dark, I suppose the canopy of trees blocked too much of the sun!

I just love these ruins. The way that nature is taking back what was originally his is so beautiful.

Recently I have been thinking so much about platform sandals! The pair I am wearing here I got last summer but only wore once. I am not completely sure why, but I guess I just didn't have the right clothes to wear with them or somehow didn't know where to wear them. I am happy that they are getting some play this summer and still seem right on trend. I am loving sandals so much that I just ordered a pair from Loft. They should be arriving here very shortly. Plus they are a wedge which in my opinion makes them that much better. Now all I need is more warm weather! It seems like everyday I get out of work the past two weeks it has been raining.

Thrifting Finds

Here are some of the lovely finds I've stumbled upon recently. The picnic basket I got at an estate sale, the hat at a local thrift store and the wicker purse at the Burley Park flea market back on Memorial day.

I still have a mental list of things I would love to find this summer, including a carpet bag, straw bag and a few more dresses. Happy thrifting!

William's Farm

Driving around the countryside never fails to present beautiful old barns! I have recently been thinking about what type of house I would love to live in one day. I think I want it to be an old farmhouse! Of course I want a barn. Wouldn't it be nice to turn the barn into a place to hang out and host parties in the summer? Christmas lights and cute tables could go a long way. Now all I have to do is find the perfect old farmhouse with a barn on a plot of land and then live happily ever after! Oh if only it was that simple!

These photos were taken at an old abandoned barn Robby and I found while we were driving around randomly one day.

Whites Bridge

Robby suprised me by taking me to this beautiful bridge a few weeks ago. Whites bridge is the oldest covered bridge still in use in Michigan. It spans the Flat river in Montcalm county. It was built between 1870 and 1871 and aside from occasional repairs it is in the same condition as when it was built.

The bridge was absolutely lovely with the greenest trees and the clearest water rushing by. I really wanted to go across it, but the bridge is temporarily closed. Sadly someone crashed into the side. You can see the hole in the side behind me. Perhaps I will get the chance to return and actually make it across!

I also love floral prints and I simply cannot get enough. Robby even commented on how I have so many dresses with flowers on them! I guess I should try and break my addiction. . . Gosh I am so far behind in pictures! I keep adding outfit posts with tights and sweaters! Believe me, it is too hot for that now in Michigan. But I have recently started my first rotation at St. Mary's and I have precious little time for fun getaways and photo shoots.

Hopefully I will have some time to do more recent posts soon.

Sad Rainy Day

These photos were taken at Spencer Mills Cemetery in Kent County. Robby and I were just driving around on the back roads near our houses looking or something fun to do. It was such a gloomy day with the rain and the dreary sky that a cemetery just seemed to call me to it. It was actually quite beautiful. Because it has been raining so much lately the grass and leaves are so green!

I got this dress for my birthday last year from my fiance. I love it! I really want to wear it without tights and it appears I may get the chance soon here because the weather has certainly changed. It has been upper 70's to 80's here in Michigan for the last few days! I thought I was ready for the heat but now I am not sure.

Indiana Adventure

Robby and I took these photos while we were visiting his mom. We visited the Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory in Forte Wayne, Indiana on our way home and had a lovely day adoring all the color! It was still a bit chilly when we took the trip so it was nice to be in the warm air with the feel of spring. I love visiting places like this! I was hoping to catch the butterflies while they were at the Fredrick Meijer Gardens in Grand Rapids, but time was not on my side. Perhaps I will get the chance to go next year!

I just loved how interesting these flowers looked! The shape reminded me of a birds head!

I loved these fish! I was also a bit surprised the picture came out as well as it did.
