8.20.14.Part II

Who: Rob & I along with Bruce
What: Camping
Where: Big Knob Park near Naubinway, Michigan
Captured: Canon EOS50

So, our campsite was like moss-town USA. Rob was in heaven. We all were really, except for an unfortunate accident that I will not mention here we had a great time at the campground & couldn't have asked for a better first night in the UP.

Oh, hello there!

This ^^ was just behind those trees you saw in the first few pictures. I mean, this campsite was amazing & we really only saw a few other people the entire time.

So happy I brought a jacket. It was positively cold out here by the water (well, cold at least for August). Its funny how many times this jacket has made an appearance on here. I guess it was a good purchase, the best color ever (duh) & super warm/comfy but not too warm. You know what I'm talking about.

8.20.14

Who: Rob & I along with Bruce
What: Bringing Bruce to school
Where: Wawatam Lighthouse in St Ignace, Michigan
Captured: Canon EOS50

So, I should probably preface this by saying that this lighthouse isn't really legit. I mean, it's obviously real, and it even gets used, but it's not a true lighthouse for those who are very particular about the word. I am not one of those people, so I think it totally counts. Haha.

This structure actually started it's life out as a Michigan welcome center travel icon in Monroe, Michigan. It was built in 1998 & swapped out for a newer version in 2004. Luckily instead of meeting its demise it was transferred to St Ignace & is now in use for snowmobilers coming across the ice in the winter (which I think is pretty darn neat). A bit funny (or maybe a bit sad) to think that this fake lighthouse is getting more use than many of our real historic lighthouses in the great lakes. Although it does make me incredibly happy to know the story of this not-quite-light.

In case you can't tell in these photos it was quite rainy & a bit chilly. This is the only time I wore shorts on this trip, crazy how chilly the UP can be in August!

8.2.14

Who: Rob & family
What: Showing off just how tall his mom's sunflowers got
Where: Greentown, Indiana
Captured: Canon Powershot

These things were massive, wishing now that I had captured a few more snaps of his mom's garden!

8.1.14

Who: Rob & I along with his mom & stepdad
What: Visiting family
Where: Indiana State Fair in Indianapolis, Indiana
Captured: Canon Powershot

They really take their state fair seriously here in Indiana! The fairgrounds were absolutely massive, like nothing I have ever seen before.

Obviously this was a big hit (& a must-see) for me! Historical drug store. I mean. ^^ It's kinda my dream to have a in-home bar themed like this. Can you imagine anything better?

I would have to say the goats were probably my favorite, I mean, come on ^^
