Blandford Nature Center

I hope you are ready for a photo heavy post! I guess we got carried away, because I have already narrowed it down from the massive amount of pictures we actually took. Sometime the scenery just makes for really great moments.

When Rob & I lived in Grand Rapids this was one of our favorite places to go. It seemed like there were rarely other people around, so we were able to take in the sights and sounds of this magical place uninterrupted. These pictures of course were taken on a small part of the nature center. I mean, there are 143 acres here to explore. Really though, it's lucky that Blandford is here to explore at all. After ownership being transferred from the Grand Rapids Museum to the Grand Rapids Public School to the non-profit Mixed Greens, Blandford has had a uncertain future for much of the time it has been open. We no longer live nearby, but I hope we can make a few trips out there this summer to enjoy it again.

So this skirt is another long one. I'm telling you, I really went for it last summer. All I could think about were long hemlines paired with heels!

This little fella was too cute to resist snapping a few photos of. We almost didn't see him! He blended into his surroundings so well.

When The Sun Shines

I am not a contacts person. I thought I would love the freedom of not wearing glasses, but it turns out that it just irritates me to wear contacts. Perhaps I just try to wear them too long throughout the day, but I have plenty of friends who wear them just as long, if not longer (I'm looking at you Ashley...) with no problems at all. Now that it is getting sunny again around here I feel like it may be time to give them a shot again.

This outfit is a product of the heat. It seems like it can get so hot in the summer here that it's hard to get inspired. These photos were taken last summer, and I have a few good ideas for this summer that while hopefully keep things interesting.

Mill Creek Cemetary

This dress is special to me because it was the first thing I ever purchased from anthropologie. I still find myself reserving it for some special occasion (although I'm not entirely sure what would qualify).

It seems to me that I have a small number of pieces in my wardrobe that gain this status of seeming to be too nice to wear. It's just that I don't want to ruin them, because if I did I know I'd be heart-broken. But, what is the joy of having clothing that you can never wear? I suppose I will just have to try and get over these feelings...

Sorry about the photo overload, this just happened to be one of those magical locations where everything just clicked. I ended up liking a lot more photos that I normally do.

Velvet

I love velvet, but I am a bit scared of it...
This skirt seemed like a good amount without being over-the-top. Maybe velvet is something you need to ease your way into, like red wine or jalapenos. I'm not sure yet, but I foresee more velvet in my future.

Black & White

Believe it or not, these photos were taken at a waste water treatment plant. This is where Rob used to work. The pond behind me look so serene, but trust me you probably wouldn't want to go swimming in there! We took these photos last summer, that tells you just how behind I really am. Looking at these photos really is making me wish it was summer right now.

This summer I was really into longer skirts, if you can't tell by looking through the last few posts. I found a bunch at the thrift stores near my house. It actually is an easier thing to find I've noticed. I found a bunch more, but some of them I think might look better with slightly shorter hem, so I will be taking off a few inches of the rest I found. I think they will be a bit more versatile that way.

We ran into this little fella on our drive home. We couldn't help but stop & take a few pictures.

Now that another internship is coming to a close I am feeling a bit like getting away for a while. I have the entire month of March off, so hopefully that means I can escape to somewhere else, if only for a brief amount of time.

Last Summer

I knew I would be busy this year with my internships, but I never thought I would completely disregard blogging, let alone taking photos. But I suppose when you only have so much time, what little free-time you get should be spent with friends. And that is what I tried to do. But I must say I missed taking outfit photos and thinking up creative ways to get dressed. It also gave us (Rob & I) an excuse to get outside and spend time together exploring new places. I didn't really realize how much it had become part of our lives until we were no longer doing it.

I also miss having this as a place to go to remember my life. I haven't been doing a good job documenting anything as of late, so hopefully that will change. I hate not being able to look back at what I've been doing lately. If not for instagram I don't think I would have any photos!

Anyway, I hope that I can get back to it soon. I only have one more internship to do and I have the next month off.
